Welcome to my website! Here you'll find some of my photographic work and other creative bits and pieces.
Like most photographers, photography is my passion and not my day job. Which means it's a way of sinking any spare money I have so I can feel creative.
I am primarily interested in project work, and try to produce two or more books per year.
Some projects are quick and others take years. The ones I am most proud of combine images and poetry.
Like anyone doing something in their spare time that involves a lot of study and trial and error, my projects tend to have rough edges. There isn't a single completed project I would not go back and improve now; and I suspect that will continue to be true for many years into the future. Nevertheless, if there is one piece of homespun wisdom I have to agree with from all those photography YouTube channels and podcasts, it is that it is better to finish a project and put it to bed than to tinker with it forever and have nothing to show for it.
I doubt anyone will want to steal any of these things, but for avoidance of doubt all these works are mine and I retain copyright to everything I publish. Nothing to be reproduced without my express permission.
So please take a look at the projects on here. They are all available as PDFs, and all of them have at least some images that I think will be worth your time. For work-in-progress and single images, you can also check out my Flickr account.
I have divided the site into:
- Shorter Projects, explorations of a location or theme over one or two sessions
- Bigger Projects, intended to be finalised as books
I also occasionally try my hand at creative writing, so I've put some of my short stories up on here for anyone who's interested. I'm a big fan of the 'Christmas ghost story' and have tried to write one for the last few years, a couple of my favourites are on here.
