Demilitarised is a long-term project, although one I'm making reasonable progress with.
The area where I live was heavily militarised during World War Two, and remains of those structures still haunt the landscape. I'm interested in the ways in which the land and the people who live here are slowly reclaiming these artefacts of war. It's an optimistic project, reminding us that all those impenetrable structures of combat are, like the fascists, bound to lose.
The medium of the project is important - I'm making trichrome images from monochrome film, which creates a level of unpredictability and movement between frames, extending the final image across time.
